New Delhi: After Samsung and HTC, it's now time for LG to doff the silk off its next flagship smartphone, the LG G3. But even before LG officially uncovers its new flagship smartphone on Tuesday, there is a lot we know about the phone courtesy of famous tipsters, including evleaks, who have a proven track record of providing reliable information before the launch.
Information about the LG G3's features and specs have been doing rounds on the Internet for a long time, and even LG has give us a glimpse of the G3's design in its official videos. Here is everything that you should know about what is presumed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 challenger.
1. LG Netherlands on Monday accidentally posted a product page, giving us an early look at the G3. The page, however, has been removed but it proved to be too late. The phone will come with a 5.5-inch display, which the company has also revealed in one of is teaser videos. The screen will have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
2. The LG G3 will come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus. According to a report from The Verge, "like HTC's second camera sensor on the One, this laser will detect the depth of the subject you want to photograph and help minimize the time it takes to go from tapping the digital shutter to capturing the photo. Its advantage over optical systems is greater precision and speed, the same reasons why it's used in desktop mice."
3. The new leaks are in contrast with the previous leaks. It was earlier specualted that the phone would have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, but the new leaks show 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage on the LG G3.
4. Beating under its hood will be a Snapdragon quad-core processor with a clock speed of 2.5GHz, say reports.
5. The phone will run the latest Android OS, Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
6. If reports are to be believed, the phone will be dust and water resistant.
LG's QuickCircle Case for the G3
LG has already revealed one of the accessories - QuickCircle Case - for its next flagship phone. The company will show the folder-style QuickCircle case, which will let users enjoy various features of their G3 without having to open the cover, during the G3 launch on May 27.
Using this case, the LG G3 users will be able to check the time, place calls, send text messages, take photos, listen to music or get an update of their health directly from the circular window.
LG's QuickCircle Case will come in five colours - Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Aqua Mint, Indian Pink. The case has been designed to protect the side edges of the G3. Smart Lighting emits a soft, white, circular glow inside the window whenever the case is opened/closed or a call/text message is received.
According to LG, a software development kit (SDK) will be available next month to allow developers to customise their LG G3 smartphones to perform customised functions with the QuickCircle Case.
