BANGALORE: Brigade Group and Rotary Bangalore Midtown recently announced the 6th annual Young Achiever Award 2011 and invite applications from young achievers who have proof of a demonstrable achievement, between the ages 16 to 28 years (born between 1 Jan 1983 to 1 Jan 1995), across Karnataka.The state-wide annual award was instituted in 2006, to recognise and honour outstanding achievements of youth.The selected individual or team will be awarded a cash prize of `,00,000 along with a trophy and citation.Achievements may be in any area of endeavour.All entries should reach the organisers on or before September 28.The detailed application process, eligibility criteria and the application form is available on the website at www.youngachiever.in.Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview, in Bangalore, where they will be required to make a presentation about their achievement (s).The first Young Achiever Award 2006.Last year, two categories were introduced: General and Sports.The prize money was increased from `1 lakh to `2 lakh.There were four joint winners, two each in the general and sports category, and two special mentions.In the general category, the award was shared by Pavithra Y S, founder-director, Vindhya E-Infomedia, a BPO that employs over 200 people, 95 per cent of whom are differently-abled and Achala Paani, founder and managing trustee of Lets’ Live Together, a registered Animal Protection Organisation for the welfare of homeless dogs in Bangalore.In the Sports category, the joint winners were Rakesh Manpat, professional shooter with national and international achievements, and Suraj Narredu, a champion jockey, the youngest to win 1,000 races in India.For details, visit www.youngachiever.in.
