Lajpat Nagar heist: Delhi Police arrests three
Over Rs 7 crore were looted from a Honda City car in a brazen daytime robbery in Lajpat Nagar on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Four days after the daring daytime robbery in Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi, the Delhi Police has arrested three suspects in the case. The three men have been identified as Bhanu, Praveen and Tiku.

The police also said that it had recovered a good amount of the cash stolen, but refused to confirm the amount.

Over Rs 7 crore were stolen from a Honda City car in Lajpat Nagar on Tuesday morning. The car belonged to Rajesh Kalra, who was also named in the 2000 Hansie Cronje match-fixing scandal. Kalra had been accused of introducing the cricketer to a London-based bookie Sanjeev Chawla.

Further investigations revealed that the car had also been used by Vindu Dara Singh at the time of his arrest in May 2013 in the IPL betting scandal.

The police is questioning the driver of the Honda City car. It has also conducted raids in Haryana.

The police suspect that the 7 crores were being used as a hawala pay-off for illegal betting.

On Friday, the police claimed having identified most of the accused in the robbery case and said more than 10 people were involved.
