Beijing: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Wednesday met the two Indian traders who were illegally detained by Chinese merchants in December and assured all possible help by the Indian government.

The two traders, Shyamsunder Agrawal and Deepka Raheja met Krishna and explained the harrowing time they had during their detention in December.

The two who claims to be employees of a firm were detained after the head of the company allegedly fled without paying for over 10 million Yuan (USD 1.5 million) of supplies procured.

Krishna said the two were currently involved in resolving their disputes with Chinese traders.

"They met me today and expressed desire to clear their name and return to India as early as possible," he said, while briefing the media after his talks with the Chinese leaders during which he raised the issue.

"I empathise with them regarding their traumatic experience and raised (the issue) with (my) Chinese counterparts. The Indian mission will provide all assistance to resolve the issue," he said.
