BANGALORE: On the centenary celebrations of the Kodava Samaja Bangalore (KSB) on Sunday, former minister and J D(S) MLC M C Nanniah urged the government to spend at least Rs 100 crore in the next four years for the improvement of infrastructure in district. He highlighted a few concerns such as the new ‘trend’ of opening resorts in the district led to many people selling their lands to accommodate resorts in the pretext of improving tourism, and said this trend was affecting the fabric of the Kodava community.  “If this continues, we will become outsiders in our own land,” he warned.  Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda announced that the government would amend laws regarding the Jamme Bane Land in the district, as the same had caused considerable confusion among the people there.  “We shall discuss the amendments in the assembly session,” he said.He shared that the government had earmarked Rs 5 crore each for an indoor Hockey stadium and a PG centre in Kushal Nagar.  Acknowledging the request made by the KSB to provide 5 acres of land near Yelhanka for setting up an old age home, hospital and a school, Gowda said that he would personally look into the file and get it cleared within 15 days. As many as 75 eminent personalities from the community were felicitated for their services to the Kodava community.
