KOTTAYAM: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Karnataka Government was violating the Supreme Court order directing it to provide necessary medical help to Abdul Nassar Madhani. The PDP urged both Central and state governments to immediately intervene in the issue as Madhani’s health has been deteriorating putting his life in danger. “While rejecting Madhani’s bail plea, the Supreme Court had directed the Karnataka Government to initiate speedy trial in the cases in which he had been implicated. The court had also directed the government to send him to a hospital for better treatment. However, the govt did not follow the court orders,” PDP working committee chairman Poonthura Siraj told reporters here on Tuesday. “Though Madhani had lost 50 per cent of his eye-sight and has been suffering from acute renal problems and other illness, the govt did not provide adequate medical treatment to him,” Siraj said. He said the PDP has decided to organise a people’s rights procession to protest against the Karnataka Government’s indifferent attitude in the Madhani issue, in Kollam on April 30.
