Mumbai: For the first time since his directorial debut five years ago, Karan Johar has cancelled the premiere of his film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna because of the Mumbai train blasts last month.

Johar said that it wouldn't feel right celebrating the film’s release after the July 11 bomb blasts.

The blasts had ripped apart seven packed Mumbai trains during evening rush hour, killing 207 people and injuring more than 800.

"I want to release the film quietly," Johar was quoted as saying.

"After what has happened in the city, I would feel uncomfortable celebrating the release," he added.

The film about a couple finding love outside their marriage is set for release on August 11.

It features a star-studded cast of actors including, Amitabh Bachchan , Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta.
