New Delhi: In a step towards improving the conditions of rehab homes across the city, Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today visited Asha Kiran Home for mentally challenged in Rohini.
After the visit, Jung said he was tremendously moved at the fate of the mentally handicapped and that Delhi government will do everything to improve facilities in all such homes.
"While man and state can never make up for the injustices of fate, we can do all we can to make such people comfortable. The state owes them this," said Jung.
During his visit, the LG visited the female as well as male cottages and the kitchen in both the wings. Both the kitchens have automatic roti-making machine and kneading machines.
He also visited the medical care unit, which has at present 8 medical officers and 67 para-medical staff.
Directions were sought for filling up the posts of the Health cadre by Health and Family Welfare Department, of the teaching and vocational cadre by the Education Department.
The home authorities also stressed on the need for additional posts for due care of the residents as per norms and early completion of the Administrative Reforms study and its further approval by the Finance and Planning Department was sought.
