Janta Verdict: 'We are Family' gets a thumbs up
Kajol and Kareena give a sincere performance

We are Family, an official remake of Chrish Columbus’ Stepmom, has two of the finest actresses from the film industry, Kajol and Kareena. Directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra, the film is about Maya (Kajol), the perfect mother whose life revolves around her three children, Aleya (Aanchal Munjal), Ankush (Nominath Ginsburg) and Anjali (Diya Sonecha).

Despite being divorced from her husband Aman (Arjun Rampal), Maya has ensured that everything runs smoothly in her house, under her watch, and that they continue to remain a happy family unit.

However, when Aman introduces his girlfriend, Shreya (Kareena Kapoor), a career-oriented woman to the family, the situation immediately takes an unexpected turn.

The first day, first show of the film saw a good crowd at a city multiplex, an indication that the film should have a good four day-weekend. We find out what the audience thinks about We are Family.

Dinesh Daryani says, “Kajol is brilliant in the film and the way she emotes comes across so naturally. Kareena is looking sexy and she is decent all through the film.”

Akshay Agarwal says, “I think the real stars of the film are the three kids. They are cute and bring in lot of freshness to the film. Kajol was very good and Kareena also did justice to her part. For Kareena, even if she doesn’t perform well in few scenes, she is looking so pretty that her acting flaws get covered up.”

Hemai Dave says, “Though the film is about two women, I think Arjun’s performance has a lot of maturity because he has to strike a balance between his ex-wife and girlfriend. The kids were brilliant but I felt the second half was too dragging. I lost interest after a point.”

Neeta Asnani says, “The film is a good one-time watch but I don’t understand why Hindi films need to have sequences that you see in daily soaps. The second half is just like that. But I had a good time.”

Megha Vora says, “The film is very emotional and there are scenes which make you cry. I loved the film and I think Kajol was too good. Few portions in the second half seemed unwanted but I didn’t get bored.”

Kajol and Kareena Kapoor have impressed the audience with their sincere performances. The audience definitely had mixed emotions, indicating the film is a must one-time watch and not to be missed.
