New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday presented Delhi's Budget for Rs 36,776 crore in the Lok Sabha.
No new taxes have been proposed by the Finance Minister in the budget. Rs 260 crore has been provided for power subsidy in Delhi. Jaitley said that Rs 0.80-1.20 per unit subsidy will be provided to small electricity consumers.
He proposed a budget of Rs 2,400 crore for education. He also proposed the launch of a multi-speciality hospital in Rohini in the National capital along with 50 dialysis centres.
Jaitley assured that more night centres will be opened in Delhi and four new
sewerage treatment plants will be set up. Community toilets will also be set up in JJ clusters, the FM said.
Following protest by Congress and opposition members over the Budget proposals, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said issues could be raised during the debate on it.
Jaitley later said he was only proposing the Budget, which would be passed after discussion.
