Issue of Muslim census reaches SC

New Delhi: The Central Government's move to take a Muslim census in the Army has been taken to the Supreme Court.

Former deputy chief of Army Staff, General RS Kadyan has filed a Public Interest Litigation challenging the decision.

The petition is likely to come up for a hearing on Tuesday.

On Friday the issue of Muslim census had rocked Parliament with the BJP alleging that the government was playing votebank politics.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee had rejected the Opposition's charge.
