BANGALORE: The Mechanical Department of MVJ College of Engineering organised a seminar cum exhibition on Awareness of Non Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources for Clean and Sustainability Development at the college recently. More than 500 students of different branches of engineering attended the seminar and exhibition held at the college. Dr H Naganagouda, Assistant General Manager, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd and Director for National Training Center for Solar Technology was the chief guest for the occasion.Dr H Naganagouda in his inaugural speech enlightened the need of renewable energy for sustained growth of energy sector. He shared, “The current conventional energy sources will deplete in a span of a decade. There is an urgent need to evolve techniques to adopt the non-conventional energy sources.” He also highlighted the present status and potential of power scenario in the state and country and the measures adopted by the government of India to promote these non-conventional energy techniques.There was also an exhibition held on the occasion, which showcased solar energy products displayed by leading solar energy companies Sun Solar Systems, AVI Solar Energy Pvt Ltd, Ronds Solar showed a keen interest in helping students understand the practical application of renewable energy. The senior management of these companies delivered technical lectures stressing the importance of future research in this field to overcome the energy crisis in the country.Dr K S Badrinarayan, Principal MVJCE shared, “In the next semester, a 15-day program will be organised by the Karnataka renewable Energy department for the students of MVJCE on how to install solar power turbine starting from design till installation.
