Later, police arrested Monu, Devesh Agnihotri, Sanjay Awasthi, Lalla, Harish and Rajesh in connection with the murder.

The crime had creatred ripples in UP with IOC and IIM demanding CISF protection for officials working in the oil sector.

The IIM students had also sent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh an online petition demanding a CBI probe into the incident and adequate compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Police sources, meanwhile, said here the state government could hand over Manjunath murder case to CBI in the coming days following pressure from IOC, ONGC and the Union Petroleum ministry.
