HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today warned that stern action would be initiated against those who tried to break peace and tranquility in the state capital in the name of agitations."People of different cultures co-exist in Hyderabad and the city has a rich cosmopolitan culture. If anyone tries to vitiate it in the name of bandhs and other agitations, the Government will deal very firmly with such people," he said, addressing a group of people brought to his camp office here to congratulate him.State Ministers hailing from the city, Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud, brought these people, as part of an ongoing exercise, to compliment and thank the CM for announcing reduction in price of subsidised rice from Rs 2 to Re 1 a kg.Referring to the ongoing indefinite strike by a cross- section of people seeking creation of Telangana state, Kiran pointed out that lakhs of people had been made to suffer as 3,500 city buses could not ply due to the stir."Leaving the poor people in trouble in the name of strikes and bandhs is not justified. The strikers have pushed the state into darkness by stopping coal production that is critical for power generation."The Government is spending Rs 12 crore per day to buy power from outside sources, but still we are forced to increase the duration of power cuts from two to four hours a day in cities, including Hyderabad from today," Kiran noted. He said the Metro Rail project in the city would soon be completed, while the second phase of Multi-Modal Transit System too will be taken up at a cost of Rs 650 crore.
