Mumbai: Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has flown to Singapore for treatment on his knee, which he damaged filming action shots, a newspaper reported on Friday.

Roshan told The Times of India he had pushed himself too hard for action scenes while filming Krrish and Dhoom 2, and tore a ligament in his right knee.

"While working towards fulfilling my commitments to all my work - endorsements and films, I didn't care much about my knee pain and neglected my doctor's advice (to not put any stress on it) and take complete rest,'' Hrithik told reporters, with a rueful grin.

''I basically succumbed to the notion that we're all heroes and pain doesn't matter,'' said Roshan, describing how he strapped his knee to complete shots. ''I understand now how foolish I have been. I think it's best to take a break for six weeks and recuperate fully rather than stretch it to the point of non-repair,''

He said it was difficult to follow doctors' advice to rest.

''I have to force myself to rest. It's the hardest thing for me to do,'' said Hrithik, adding, ''Resting is against my personality.''

Hrithik will return in January for the release of his historical movie Jodha Akbar based on a romance between the 16th century Muslim Mughal emperor Akbar and his wife, the Hindu princess, Jodha Bai.
