Hot pipe in Paper Mill leaks, 5 injured

JEYPORE: Five employees of SEWA Paper Mill in Jeypore sustained grievous burn injuries, two critically, in the wee hours of Wednesday. Police said the hot pipe that flushed gas for melting coal suddenly leaked and fell on the employees working under the pipe.The injured were first rushed to Jeypore Hospital and later shifted to Visakhapatnam  after their condition deteriorated.  Though the management is yet to speak about the incident, the dilapidated pipe  in the gas chamber could be the reason behind the accident, sources said.  “We are looking for any negligence on the part of the management,” said Jeypore Sadar Police Station Inspector S Padhi. This is the third time such an incident has occurred in the paper mill.
