New Delhi: The results of the 51st annual Grammy Awards are out and like every year there were surprises, joys and let downs clubbed with hot performances.

They come from diverse musical backgrounds, but it's music that binds these musicians together. One was the front man of the legendary hard rock band Led Zepellin and the other a mellow folk singer.

But diversity clicked well for Robert Plant and Alison Krauss as they swept the grammy awards with five wins including Record of the Year and Album of the Year for the year for their album Raising Sand.

Song of the Year went to British mood rockers Cold Play for Viva La Vida, even in the midst of a controversy over the track being lifted off a Joe Satriani tune.

Best New Artist went to British soul pop singer Adele who beat quite a few popular heartthrobs like Duffy and the Jonas brothers to the award.

Rapper Lil Wayne took over the hip hop categories with four Grammys including Best Rap Album for his album the Carter 3.

And ustaad Zakir Hussain shared a Grammy with three other international musicians for the album Global Drum Project which won in the Best Contemporary World Music category.

Now a big part of the Grammys are also the stage acts where the Grammy producers have a made a habit of getting artists to pair up for some interesting results.

There was Justin Timberlake with R&B legend Al Green. Sir Paul McCartney with the Foo Fighters, drummer David Grohl, Cold Play with rapper Jay Z.

And U2 being themselves performed their latest single Get on your boots.
