HIV+ woman drowns in well at TB hospital

CHENNAI: Four women fell into a huge well inside the TB hospital premises at Tambaram after the concrete slab covering it collapsed on Thursday morning. Lakshmi, a 30-year-old HIV-affected woman from Karur, died.
Police said Lakshmi had come to visit her husband, who is also HIV-positive, admitted to the hospital. After seeing her husband, Lakshmi was resting on the concrete slab along with three other women when the mishap took place. Lakshmi was taking medicines from the Anti-Retroviral Treatment centre at the hospital for the past six months. Three other women, who fell into the well, were rescued by fire service personnel.
