Security has been tightened across the country as India celebrates its 69th Independence Day. During his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes a dig on previous UPA government, says it had become a fashion to keep making new laws.

## Narendra Modi: Why should it be mandatory for people to give interviews. I request state governments to remove the process of interviews for minor jobs to end corruption in getting jobs.

## Narendra Modi: We are looking at systems for enabling start-ups. We must be Number 1 in start-ups. 'Start-up India' & 'Stand up India'. There should not even been a single block in the country where there are no start ups

## Narendra Modi: Even after so many decades of Independence there are 18,500 villages in India which do not have electricity. We affirm our commitment to provide electricity to all those villages that do not have electricity.
## Narendra Modi: The 'Krishi Mantralaya' will now be known as 'Krishi Kalyan Mantralaya' (Agriculture ministry will be called agriculture and farmer welfare ministry)
## Narendra Modi: We need to increase agricultural productivity. Save water, save energy, save fertilizers should be our motto. We have earmarked Rs 50,000 crore for irrigation scheme
## Narendra Modi: We are installing gas pipelines & improving rail network
## Narendra Modi: India will be successful when UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other parts of North East India are strengthened. India cannot develop till the eastern part of the country develops.
## Narendra Modi: Despite deficit rains, we have been successful in bringing down the inflation down from double digits to 3-4%
## Narendra Modi: We did not organize press conferences and talk about fighting against corruption, we acted on the ground and brought changes in the schemes to fight corruption.
## Narendra Modi: Rs 6500 crore disclosed under compliance window of black money & foreign assets law. People fear the law that has now been created. Stringent provisions will not be diluted despite pressures.
## Narendra Modi: Some people are worried about tough law on black money; it has ensured that nobody dares to take black money out of the country:
## Narendra Modi: Before we came to power, CBI had filed only 800 cases of corruption. Under our government, CBI has registered 1800 corruption cases in 10 months
## Narendra Modi: At G-20 summit, I worked with US and other countries to bring black money back.
## Narendra Modi: We have taken several steps to bring back black money. As soon as we came to power, we made the SC appointed SIT for black money probe which had been pending for 3 years
## Narendra Modi: There was a lot of pressure on me to not go forward with FM auction
## Narendra Modi: It has been 15 months in government and there is not a single charge of corruption on us
## Narendra Modi: We have auctioned coal, spectrum, radio, shown transparency, no corruption. Don't judge this in political terms
## Narendra Modi: We had decided that be in coal or spectrum, we will auction for them. The auctions were completed on time and over Rs 3 lakh crore were collected for India
## Narendra Modi: If I talk about coal, people will start equating my statements with a political angle. This is not a platform for politics, I'm not making any allegations on anyone.

## Narendra Modi: Based on my experience, I can say that India country can be freed of corruption.

## Narendra Modi: Dignity of labour has to be our national duty, it has to be a part of our nature. We introduced Shrameva Jayate Yojana. It is an effort to change the way we look at the workers of India. Dignity for all is our mission
## Narendra Modi: Almost 4.25 lakh toilets were built in 2.62 schools nationwide in one year; this gives self-confidence that we can do what we want.
## Narendra Modi: We have been very successful in our campaign to make toilets, especially for girls in schools across India. I thank the state governments, bureaucrats and everyone in Team India for their efforts in building toilets
## Narendra Modi: We have established a new culture where financial schemes schemes reach over 10,000 crore Indians
## Narendra Modi: The children of India have given the maximum strength to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The biggest brand ambassadors of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan are the 5-10 year olds, who have taken part in this campaign enthusiastically
## Narendra Modi: People from all walks of life, spiritual leaders, media friends, celebrities, have worked to create awareness for Clean India
## Narendra Modi: Our programmes and missions must strive to end poverty
## Narendra Modi: If there is something that has touched every person, it is the movement towards cleanliness
## Narendra Modi: Last year I spoke about Clean India and open defecation, it was criticised then but that has been the main point with which the government has touched the lives of the people.
## Narendra Modi: When the economic strength of the last man increases, nobody can stop the growth and development of India. The biggest achievement of team India is completing the promises within the time frame
## Narendra Modi: All governments make policies, schemes and plans but what is important that the plans are implemented

## Narendra Modi: I respect the richness of the poor of India who accumulated Rs 20,000 cr in their accounts, even though they could open zero balance accounts
## Narendra Modi: Bringing 17 crore people to the doors of the bank is a huge task and I commend all the bank officials for the same. It is not difficult to open a bank branch, it is difficult to get 17 crore people to open bank accounts.
## Narendra Modi: I'm confident that it is with the strength of the poor that India will move forward.

## Narendra Modi: Nobody wants to remain poor. Those who are poor want to move away from poverty. That is why, all our programmes must be for the poor. All our schemes must serve the poor.
## Narendra Modi: Be it MyGov, letters from citizens, Mann Ki Baat, communication with people. Daily 'Jan Bhagidari' is increasing.
## Narendra Modi: India is developing because of 125 crore strong Team India. We have to end the curse of casteism, communalism with the sweetness of development.
## Narendra Modi: There should be no place for casteism or communalism in India. In no way can they be tolerated
## Narendra Modi: If the unity of India is destroyed then the dreams of the people are also destroyed
## Narendra Modi: Unity in diversity is India's strength. There is simplicity in every Indian. There is unity in every corner of India. This is our strength.
