London: England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has reportedly hinted that Guus Hiddink will be his successor as England manager.
The Sun newspaper reported on Wednesday that Eriksson was dining with his partner in a Stockholm restaurant when he told diners that the PSV Eindhoven and Australia coach would succeed him.
Eriksson reportedly waved away an approach from a reporter, saying, "Please, I don't want to talk about football tonight because I want to have a whisky."
When a couple sitting at a nearby table quizzed him on the situation Eriksson reportedly told them, "It will be Hiddink, and good luck to him."
Eriksson was back in his native Sweden to receive an award from King Carl Gustav for his contribution to sport.
His comments will be another source of embarrassment to the Football Association (FA) after his revelations to the so-called fake sheikh.
As a result of his remarks, Eriksson will step down from the England post after this summer's World Cup.
Hiddink, 59, is set to take Australia to their first World Cup since 1974 after guiding the Socceroos to Germany with a play-off victory over Uruguay last November.
He guided South Korea to the semi-finals of the last World Cup.
