BANGALORE:  Cubbon Park police have arrested a man on charges of selling fake marks cards of various universities at exorbitant rates. The accused is identified as Someshwar Dekka (32) of Assam, residing at Sanjaynagar in the city.According to police, they had received a tip off about the racket and sketched a plan to catch the men behind it. Posing as prospective buyers, the police approached the accused requesting him to create a fake marks card and as he readily agreed for it, the police caught him red handed.“He is a school drop out and had come to the city in search of a job a few years ago. He had joined a HR consultancy firm, where he came in contact with Sudheer Rai, the main accused and Amith Kumar. The trio started creating fake marks cards of universities in Assam, Jharkhand and other states. Also, they sold marks cards of technical courses in VTU,” the police explained.“During interrogation, he revealed that he had obtained 24 account numbers from various banks. He used to charge between `25,000 to `50,000 per marks card, based on the background of the buyer,” the police added.The police have recovered cash `94,000, several fake marks cards and convocation certificates of various universities from the accused. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused of the case. Further investigations are on.
