HC dismisses petition on alleged misuse of funds

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed alleging that the move to construct a cricket stadium at Edakochi was misuse of funds by the KCA. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J Chelameswar and Justice Antony Dominic dismissed the petition filed by KCA former member Ram Mohan.
"Though the petitioner pointed out that the proposed land comes under the Coastal Regulation Zone Act, there is no mention about the nature of construction. The petitioner was a member of KCA during 7679. It is clear that he has nothing to do with the functioning of the Association now," the court said."If the petitioner is a wellwisher of the Association, why should he challenge the stamp duty exemption for land acquisition for the stadium at Edakochi?" the court asked.
