Haryana schools to organise 'Sankalp' programme for harmony
In the aftermath of the violence in the state, a 'Sankalp' programme would be organised in schools during which students and teachers would take a pledge to maintain brotherhood and goodwill.

Chandigarh: In the backdrop of some educational institutions being attacked during the Jat stir in Haryana, a 'Sankalp' programme would be organised at all government and private schools on Saturday during which students and teachers would take a pledge to maintain brotherhood and goodwill.

State Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, at a meeting with district-level officers of the department today, directed them to spread the message of 'Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek' under the 'Sankalp' programme.

The national flag would be hoisted during the programme, while students and teachers would take the pledge to work towards maintaining brotherhood, cooperation and harmony, he said.

Notably, many schools and colleges were ransacked and burnt by Jat quota agitators in Rohtak district.

During the meeting, Sharma directed officials to maintain quality of education and told officers to start 'Pravesh Utsav' for encouraging admissions and persuading drop-outs to return to school.

Affirming the state government's commitment to checking cheating in examinations, he said help of newly-elected Panchayat representatives and other responsible persons should be taken to spread awareness over this issue.

The minister also directed the officers to link all scholarships being offered to students with Aadhaar card within the prescribed time limit to bring transparency in the system.
