Gopalganj: Woman arrested for poisoning tubewell

A woman was arrested on Sunday for poisoning a tubewell in her own house in a village in Bihar's Gopalganj district, a police officer said.

The accused woman Aarti Devi was arrested after the family members complained that she had poisoned a tubewell as a result of which two children of the extended family were taken ill after consuming contaminated water earlier in the day, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anil Kumar said.

Devi had dropped some poisonous substance in the tubewell apparently to settle scores with the members of her extended family, he said.

Meanwhile, the two siblings taken ill after drinking contaminated water have been admitted in a Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment, Kumar said.
