New Delhi: Actress Shilpa Shetty’s family has said that the eviction of her arch nemesis Jane Goody from the TV reality show Celebrity Big Brother, was a big relief for them.
They have also said that it was indicative of the tremendous support she had received from the public in the past few days.
"Shilpa's family is very confident that Shilpa will continue to do well in the show. The fact that she has stayed on speaks volumes about the kind of public support she has received in the past few days," a spokesperson for the Shetty family said.
Racist comments by Goody directed at Shilpa on the show had created a furore in UK and India and were condemned by the likes of Prime Minister Tony Blair.
In Friday night’s episode, Shilpa was voted to stay on in the show while Goody was evicted.
"However, we strongly feel that there should not be a trial by media in this matter. Shilpa had gone there to compete in a healthy way and after this matter, she has got a lot of sympathy votes, which is not what she wants," the spokesperson said
"Shilpa's family is confident that she will win the show on her own credibility, as she originally intended to," he added.
