HYDERABAD: Police raided the 'famed' Golkonda Vidya Parishad at Mozamjahi market in the city on Wednesday and nabbed one P Naresh, who was working as the counsellor in it. Cops recovered 60 fake educational certificates, a cell phone, some other incriminating material and documents. Naresh was handed over to Begum Bazar police for further action. North zone Task Force inspector L Raja said two others were absconding. The self-styled group of educational institutions sell educational certificates right from degree to engineering, MBA and others, police said. The nefarious activities of the institution were exposed in 2008 when city police raided its premises at Moazamjahi Market and seized several fake certificates. However, it swung into action again six months back. The institutions are run by Syed Afsaruddin, who claims himself to be the director of the Parishad while his wife, Haseena Fathima, is the chairman of the Parishad. Apart from the Parishad, Afsaruddin operates Golconda National Universe and National Institution of Secondary Education under the Super Education Trust. Afsaruddin attracts youth by giving advertisements of 100 per cent pass guarantee in his institutions and gives certificates in nearly 230 courses. "He charges `2,000 to `11,000 for a course per year,'' the inspector said.
