HYDERABAD:  The announcement of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII results on Monday brought cheers to the students in the city as most of them fared exceptionally well. And for many in the science stream, engineering continues to be the best career option.“I am waiting for the results of AIEEE and EAMCET. I have qualified for some of the deemed universities,” said Leepakshi Bindra of Meridian School. She was the school topper in science stream with 96 per cent (MPC combination). The electronics engineering aspirant scored 99 per cent in Mathematics.In commerce stream, Krishna Jain of Meridian School secured 95 per cent. Students of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya at Begumpet also put up an impressive performance with Krithika Venkatesh scoring 94.8 per cent in science stream (with Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology). In commerce stream, G Varsha topped the list with 93.6 per cent.Of the 6,238 students, who appeared for the examination from Andhra Pradesh, 87.53 per cent came out with flying colours. Girls outdid boys once again with a pass percentage of 90.49. The overall pass percentage of girls in the Chennai Zone of CBSE schools remained high at 92. 67 per cent as compared to 88.87 per cent registered by boys. The Chennai Zone includes CBSE schools from four Southern states as well as Puducherry, Maharashtra, Goa, Lakhswadeep, Andaman and Nicobar as well as Daman and Diu.The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) schools which constitute a large chunk of government institutions following CBSE syllabus registered a pass percentage of 97.5 per cent from the Hyderabad Region, said to be the best performance among the 25 KVS regions.“Nearly 1530 students had appeared from the Hyderabad KVS Region which comprises 35 schools which have classes till 12th. Of these schools, 17 registered 100 per cent pass percentage. Only two schools registered a pass percentage of 89 per cent,” said SM Saleem, deputy commissioner of KVS Hyderabad Region.Most of the failures were registered in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry while Economics was the scourge for the students pursuing commerce stream.
