New Delhi: The film based on Stieg Larsson's global bestseller 'The Girl with the Dragon tattoo' is scheduled to be aired for the first time on Indian television on HBO Wednesday, 13 Jul at 9 pm.

The trilogy has had an unprecedented success in the literary world. It was a massive hit in Larsson's native land Sweden and later the translations went on to become global bestsellers.

Larsson died in 2004, shortly after delivering the manuscripts for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

Based on the international bestseller, the film too has received rave response.

Hollywood too is coming up with their adaptation of 'The Girl with the Dragon tattoo' which will star Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

The story is about, Harriet Vanger who disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

Directed by Niels Arden Oplev, the film stars Michael Nyqvist, Noomi Rapace and Ewa Fröling.
