New Delhi: Reigning national champions Soumyajit Ghosh and K Shamini will lead the 12-member men's and women's Indian team respectively for the IITF World Tour Kuwait Open starting on Thursday.
The same team will later participate at the Qatar Open to be held at Doha from February 20 to 24. India's highest-ranked international paddler A Sharath Kamal would look to prove his detractors wrong after his recent slump in form.
These tournaments are crucial for the Indian paddlers to stake claim to the squad for the Commonwealth Championships to be held here in May this year.
The team will be accompanied by coaches Arup Basak and Bhawani Mukherjee.

Men: Soumyajit Ghosh, Sanil Shetty, Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, Soumyajdeep Roy and Jubin Kumar.
Women: K Shamini, Mousumi Paul, Ankita Das, Madhurika Patkar, Neha Agarwal, Pooja Sahasrabudhe.
Coaches: Arup Basak and Bhawani Mukherjee.
