CHENNAI: The 38th India Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair at the Island Grounds in Chennai will now be a treat, not only to tourists, but also to ardent Hindu devotees. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department is all set to offer the holy ‘Prasadam’ for visitors. According to official sources, Vibhuti and Kungumam, sourced from temples and Prasadam (food that is first offered to god) will be provided to the people. This apart, several departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu have also opened pavilions at the Industrial Trade Fair, offering public services. While people can test the quality of drinking water at the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board stall, they can also undergo blood tests and blood pressure check-up at the pavilion of the Department of Health. The tourism pavilion is one of the finest stalls at the Industrial Trade Fair, showcasing major tourist spots in the State under one roof. A working model of a toy train has been designed inside the pavilion for the purpose. The train runs through important tourism centres of Tamil Nadu from Tiruchendur to Udhagamandalam to Yelagiri, exciting visitors. Moreover, delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items are also available. The entry fee is `15 for adults and `10 for children, effective from Friday. Those visiting the industrial fair this Wednesday and Thursday will not be charged any entry fee.
