Ganguly's stint in county championship will be considered but taking him in team will be selectors' decision.

Vadodara: Sourav Ganguly's performance in the English county championship would be considered but including him in the Indian team would be a selectors' decision, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah has said.

"If he plays and performs well in England and domestic cricket back home, it will be taken into consideration. But

naming Ganguly in the Indian team is upto the selectors," Shah said on Thursday.

Ganguly, who was dropped from the team after the tour of Pakistan earlier this year, is on a short stint with the Northamptonshire county club.

He was out bowled by Zaheer Khan for two in his maiden innings in his team's first innings against Worcestershire in a Division Two match yesterday.

Ganguly has said that he wanted to use his county stint to prove his worth and get back into the national squad.

"I want to put runs on the board and get back into the national team," the 33-year old left-hander had said.

"I'm not here from a financial point of view - it's important to perform. I still feel I've got a lot of cricket in me and every run will be watched."

When asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya's writing a letter to the BCCI vis a vis Ganguly's selection in the team, Shah said everybody had a right to write such letters giving his opinion.

"Even Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has suggested that Ganguly be re-included in the national team. This is normal thing but inclusion of a player depended on his performance," Shah said.
