BANGALORE: In two cases, two women were duped by a gang within 45 minutes in Kamakshipalya police limits on Wednesday.In the first crime, Thimmamma, a resident of Kamakshipalya, was returning from a bank when a girl aged about 13 years approached her and requested for `10.Thimmamma declined saying she did not have the money. The girl told her she had a gold coin worth about Rs 1,800 and wished to sell it.Meanwhile, a woman who was listening to the conversation, joined the duo and allegedly said she too had 16 gold coins worth about Rs 80,000. She claimed to have found them lying on a road and offered them at a price Thimmamma agreed to pay. Carried away with the offer, the latter purchased the coins for Rs 15,000. When checked, she realised that they were not gold coins, the police added.Half an hour after this incident, the same gang along with a man duped a 67-yearold woman of gold ornaments near Vrushabavathinagar.Nagamma, who was travelling to Marutingar, was duped by the same gang. The man said Nagamma that the place was prone to robberies and she should take care of her gold jewels. He suggested to pack her jewels, so that she can travel safely. Nagamma agreed and gave away her jewels to the conman.When she reached home, Nagamma opened the paper pack and found stones in it, the police explained.Both the victims have filed cases in Kamakshipalya police station and further investigations are on.
