Friday Release: Will 'Loot' be Govinda's comeback?
Friday Release: Will 'Loot' be Govinda's comeback?
Mahakshay Chakraborty aka Mimoh would also be hoping to have the first commercially successful film.

New Delhi: Govinda opted out of active politics in the year 2004 when he decided not to contest again from the same North Mumbai parliamentary seat, but it took him a couple of years to regain the old concentration. 'Ssukh', 'Khullam Khulla Pyar Karein', and 'Sandwich' were the products that Govinda managed to come up in this duration.

But as they say that a friend in need is a friend indeed, David Dhawan and Salman Khan extended hands of support to Govinda and the result was a hit film 'Partner'.

Priyadarshan's 'Bhagam Bhaag' and Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam-e-Ishq' were also released in the same year 2006 but somehow Govinda did not look in his traditional groove.

A string of small and flop films followed and Govinda's status got reduced to a star of yesteryears. His pan India appeal shrunk to a small group of north Indians.

Govinda was very much aware of his situation. He kept doing cameos and guest appearances to not get out of public view.

Mani Rathnam's 'Raavan' featured Govinda as Sanjeevani Kumar, a character modelled on the lines of lord Hanuman, but the role was lazy and misfit for Govinda. His own lethargic body language made the character look more ineffective.

However, nobody can predict the future in an industry where stars born and breathe last on each Friday.

Govinda has teamed up with screenwriter turned director Rajnish Raj Thakur for 'Loot' this time, where he will lead a group of unskilled and wannabe thieves.

Pandit (Govinda), has some equally incompetent allies in the shapes of Akbar (Javed Jaffrey), Wilson (Mahakshay Chakraborty) and Builder (Sunil Shetty). Mr. Baatliwala, owner of an antique shop in Colaba, is their boss.

Baatliwala is tired of his team and its failed tactics and thus he sends them to a final mission.

Aspiring thieves reach to Thailand to rob a jewellery shop but their madcap antics annoy a local don and a RAW agent.

Produced by Suniel Shetty, 'Loot' has one more attraction in the offering. Mika Singh and Rakhi Sawant are coming together for the first time after their infamous party-smooch-OMG sequence.

Rakhi is doing an item number 'Jawani Ki Bank Loot Le' in the film which has received ire of the censor board.

'Loot' will be benefited by the fact that no other big film is releasing simultaneously. 'RA.One' also is more or less done with its job. The film is expected to catch more eyeballs and if the content is good then it can have a relatively easier run at the box office.

Apart from the debutant director Rajnish Thakur, Govinda will also be very excited as this can be his image changing film.

And yes, Mahakshay Chakraborty aka Mimoh would also be hoping to have the first commercially successful film.
