BANGALORE: After B C Mylarappa, Registrar (Administration), exposed the hapless infrastructure at Jnana Bharathi and Central College campus, demand for state government’s stern action against the university has intensified. If the officials or state government do not take measures to improve things, massive college bandh might take place. On Monday, members of the Bhrashtachara Nirmulana Vedike (BNV), announced at a press conference that fierce protest had been planned on February 16, in front of the Registrar’s office at Central College demanding immediate action by the officials concerned on matters related to hostels, evaluations and fee discrepancies. “Why is the state government silent on these issues? Ninety per cent of the students are from rural areas. How they manage to stay in such hostels is indescribable. In order to urge the state government to take action, we will stage a protest in Central College,” said K Prabhakar Reddy, former MLA and member of BNV. Among the list of demands, introduction of supplementary exams in the semester scheme, scrapping of Bangalore One and online facilities for application of various admission and examination related forms and appointment of qualified personnel for valuation of answer sheets, are a few demands. “Ultimately, if the officials and the government fail to act, we will enforce a massive bandh of colleges,” warned Sheshu M, president, BNV.
