In what could be a major embarrassment for the defence services, a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer and prominent OROP activist CK Sharma has been detained by the Gurgaon Police.
The former IAF officer has been arrested in connection with alleged financial irregularities in a private organisation for retired officers.
According to police sources, some prominent names in the OROP campaign are under scanner and more arrests are likely in connection with the case.
A complaint in this regard was filed by a retired Army officer, who accused the activists of misappropriation of funds.
The Congress was quick to respond to the issue. Party general secretary Digvijaya Singh took to Twitter to criticise the Narendra Modi government over the issue.
