Nurburgring: Force India's Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta were the 8th and 12th fastest, respectively, in the Formula One German Grand Prix qualifying here on Saturday while Indian driver Karun Chandhok of Team Lotus finished 21st.
Redbull's Mark Webber clocked 1:30.079 seconds to claim pole position ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who recorded 1:30.134 to settle the front row.
Webber's teammate and championship leader Sebastian Vettel was the third fastest with a time of 1:30.216. This was the first time in 15 races that Vettel found himself out of the top two going into Sunday's race.
Force India, however, came up with yet another solid qualifying performance as Sutil and di Resta set a time of 1:32.010 and 1:32.560 respectively to be in hunt for points.
"Another strong qualifying performance for us and it is great to be starting my home race from P8. My Q3 lap was good, although a couple of tenths slower than my Q2 lap, but it wouldn't have changed my overall position," said Sutil.
"I feel I got the maximum from the car. The balance has been good all weekend; I feel confident in the car and I really like this circuit. So I am excited about the race tomorrow and really looking forward to it. We just have to wait and see what happens with the weather."
Force India will look to make amends for the disappointing show in Silverstone after its drivers failed to finish amongst points despite a decent show in qualifying. The Vijay Mallya-owned team is at eighth place in the Constructors Championship with 12 points.
