The recent raid on hotels and brothels has exposed rampant trafficking of Bangladeshi girls by organised gangs, who bribe security personnel on the borders, with the motive to run brothel in upcoming industrial towns and tourists spots to make fast bucks .
The raids has also shocked the activists, NGOs and the policemen as they have seized fake pan cards, driving licenses and other documentation created to claim that they are Indians .
Majority of the victims who were rescued during the raid are from Bangladesh, while many claimed that they are from West Bengal and trafficked on false promise of a job in Mumbai.
The rescued women during counseling also disclosed that they are trafficked by women, brought to Mumbai by train and later deputed to cities like Bangalore and Mysore by those involved in flesh trade.
The cops had recovered pan card, credit card and licenses with fake address from Green Khan, Ronu and other professional traffickers during the previous raids.
Latha, a sex worker, said that she was pushed into flesh trade on the promise that she would be paid `50,000 per month and few others were promised `3 lakh in four months. The traffickers spend more than `8,000 to traffic one women into India and equal amount is spent on reintegrating them with their family.
Salma, a rescued women from Bangladesh, said that she was trafficked to India after her father died. She worked in Gujarat for a while but was later moved to Mysore by trafficker. However, she wants to return home.
Parshu of Odanadi, destitute centre, observed that the brothel are run in areas like Periyapatna that is famous for it tobacco and coffee business; Kadakola, a industrial area; and Srirangapatna, a prominent tourists area on Bangalore-Mysore road.
He said that majority of Bangladeshi women are residing on outskirts of Bangalore targeting IT techies and businessmen .
He told that the traffickers have brought girls who can dance from the remote village of Bangladesh to serve in bar and restaurants.
Parshu said that they along with other NGOs have taken up the matter with higher ups to strengthen screening in borders.
Stanley, director of Odanadi, said the they have apprised Murugan, head, Anti-trafficking Squad, about seizure of fake documents in the interest of national security.
