Five Sarpanches, 11 Samiti Members Elected Unopp

DEOGARH: At least five sarpanches, 11 samiti members besides 118 ward members in Reamal block and 93 ward members in Tileibani block have been declared elected unopposed in the district. However, there are 25 candidates in fray for seven Zilla Parishad (ZP) seats in the district. While Congress, BJD and the BJP have fielded candidates in all the ZP seats, the Kosal Kranti Dal has put up candidates in two ZP seats, the CPI (M) in one and a lone Independent candidate contesting from Reamal Zone II. In Reamal block, out of the 22 samiti member posts, those from Tinkbir, Baghbar, Palasama, Naulipada, Kundeigola, Chadeimara and Tarang have been declared elected. Similarly, out of the 22 gram panchayats, sarpanches to three GPs comprising Nuadihi, Karlaga and Baghbar have been declared elected unopposed. In Lulung GP under the block, all the 11 ward members have won unopposed while none has filed nomination for 10 wards in the block. In Barkote block, out of the 22 samiti members, three samiti members including Jharakandal, Kelda and Kaunsibahal have been declared elected in the absence of any rival. Similarly, out of the 22 GPs, sarpanch to Basaloi GP has been declared elected unopposed. Out of the 16 samiti members, samiti member of Tainsar GP under Tileibani block has been declared elected uncontested while out of the 16 posts of sarpanch, the sarpanch of  Kendieijhuri has been declared elected unopposed. However, none filed nomination for members in 15 wards in the block.
