Ever since film industry workers demanded a wage hike, the film chambers in all the southern states have been holding talks with them for a “reasonable” settlement with them. The Karnataka film chamber offered a hike of 20 to 25 per cent to skilled and semi-skilled workers. SIFCC decided to extend the same offer to film workers in other southern states with an eye on uniformity. But the workers have continued to demand more.“We hope to resolve the issue before the end of October. But in a measure not to cause inconvenience to producers who intend to make films, we are asking them to keep their projects on hold,” Suresh Babu said.
