BANGALORE: The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and the Hasiru Sene have put forth their demands to the government asking for a fair share in this year’s state budget. Addressing the press meet, S A Patil, president of Karnataka Rajya Krishi Mission said, “Apart from giving subsidy to the farmers, the government should set up a programme exclusively for the farmers to help them become self-sustained.”S A Patil opined that though farmers were doing research on various methods of farming, the agricultural universities were not supportive. He added, “Government should set up a training centre for farmers who have reached new heights in farming. The budget should also include setting up of a  Bio-Research Centre in every    village.”Claude Alvaaris, environmentalist said, “Farmers in the state have not benefited from the government since 30 years.  Farmers’ association should build up a strong foothold and fight for their rights.”
