Failed SSLC student commits suicide

BANGALORE: A student committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Kottanur, J P Nagar eighth phase, Bangalore, on Thursday, an hour after the announcement of the SSLC examination results. The victim has been identified as Shashikanth, 16, a student of Glitzy Public School, Annapurneshwari Nagar, near Kothanur. The incident came to light when his parents returned home from the market. According to police, the boy, along with his friends had gone to a nearby internet browsing centre around 1 pm, and returned home at 3 pm. He was visibly upset when he learnt that he had failed in the examination. He resorted to the extreme step as his parents were not at home then. The boy’s father, Narayanaswamy, a realtor by profession, was shocked at seeing his son dead and immediately informed the police. Police confirmed that the boy committed suicide after getting to know of the results. Shashikanth was the youngest child of his parents.
