Shinawatra has been sentenced to two years in prison.
New Delhi: Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Thai supreme court.
He's been found guilty of corruption and violating the constitution to buy cheap land for his wife, using a state bank.
Five out of nine judges ruled against Thakshin, who has fled to Britain with his wife to evade arrest.
Thakshin has been acquitted in other two corruption cases. This is the first ruling in a series of corruption cases against him.
The former prime minister says he had anticipated this judgement as it is politically motivated.
