THRISSUR: Raghuram R, 22, Reporter with ‘The New Indian Express’ (Kozhikode news bureau), died in a road accident here around 10 minutes past midnight on Friday. The bike he was riding collided with a Tempo Traveller which had gone out of control at Kecheri near Thrissur. The tempo had  rear-ended a car, lost control and swerved into the wrong lane ramming straight into Raghuram who was coming in the opposite direction.Raghuram was on his way to his residence in Chalakkudy from Kozhikode on the eve of Vishu. Though he was rushed to a private hospital in Thrissur, his life could not be saved. The Kunnamkulam police conducted the inquest on Saturday morning.The body was handedover to his relatives later in the day after post-mortem examination at  Thrissur Medical College. The cremation was held on the premises of his house on Saturday night.Raghuram joined the Kozhikode Bureau of The New Indian Express on July 18, 2011. He had been covering education, arts and culture. He had reported on various events including the recently concluded Party Congress of the CPM. An avid theatre enthusiast, Raghuram had a special love for reporting drama festivals and workshops.Apart from English and Malayalam, Raghuram was proficient in Hindi, which he had effectively employed to give his reports a national dimension. His much discussed story on tainted leaders from West Bengal attending the CPM Party Congress was an example.Raghuram is survived by his father Ramachandran Paliathu, a Gulf returnee and mother Rathy Ramachandran, a teacher. He has a five-and-a-half-year-old brother Sreeram.
