Explosion possible at Japanese nuclear plant
A 9-magnitude quake followed by tsunami rocked northeastern Japan on Friday, killing over 1,000 people.

Tokyo: A hydrogen explosion is possible at a reactor of Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant which was hit badly by an earthquake two days ago, a senior official said on Sunday.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said the No. 3 reactor of the plant could resist the possible blast, Xinhua reported. An explosion took place Saturday at the plant in which four people were injured.

According to reports, nuclear reactors at the Fukushima I and II plants lost their cooling functions after power and backup generators were cut off due to the devastating quake.
