SHIMOGA: Statement of former Lokayukta SP Madhukar Shetty that appeared in a newspaper raised doubts on the credibility of the functioning of the Lokayukta, said state BJP president and MLA K S Eshwarappa.Speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday, Eshwarappa said that corruption prevailing in the Lokayukta sends a message that thieves (police) were after thieves. He requested the legal experts and the Central government to express their opinions in this regard.Answering a query on the prospects of the BJP in ensuring by-election to Bellary rural Assembly constituency, Eshwarappa said, “With the announcement of candidature of Gadilingappa, all the party workers expressed their solidarity and confidence to face the election. Their enthusiasm reveals that BJP would retain its seat in Bellary,” he added. He expressed confidence that his party MLAs Somashekhar and Ananda Singh would join the campaign. Only MP Shanta and MLA Nagendra have gone with Sriramulu, he added.
