New Delhi: In a sensational disclosure, IBN7 has found out that every tenth currency note in India is fake.
The investigation also reveals that it is groups based in Bangladesh, and not Nepal, which are active in pumping fake Indian currency, with Malda in West Bengal as their prime centre.
In fact, so pervasive is the racket that most of the fake currency seized across the country have some links with Malda. The racket was busted after a man called Manirul was arrested recently.
According to IBN7 sources, most of the dealers in fake currency are active in Kaliachak, Vaishnavnagar and Gopalganj areas of Malda district. The other disctricts with such rackets are Murshidabad and Aurangabad in West Bengal.
IBN7 has the details of people active in the racket, who, sources say, are also under the radar of the investigation agencies.
Sources say Bangladesh-based terror groups and even HuJi have been using these rackets to pump in fake currency into the Indian markets.
According to sources, for every Rs 10 crore of fake currency pumped into the market, the agents get Rs 60 lakh as commission.
Sources also say that the agents use Intercity Express trains running through Rampur Haat, Bolpur and Vardhaman on one route and through Azeemganj, Katwa and Howrah on another route to carry the money.
