BANGALORE: Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurated the ESIC’s 150th hospital at Peenya on Monday.Speaking on the occasion, Kharge said that he will extend all assistance from the Union government to help the employees. He said that the Union government had launched many schemes for the benefit of working class across the nation. While some states were making optimum use of facilities, a few were yet to explore the opportunities and make effective use of the available schemes. Further, Kharge opined that it was possible to improve the economic status of labourers if both the state and Union government joined hands and brought in new schemes. Some of the present schemes had benefited the working class. The purpose of setting up the sophisticated ESIC hospital was to provide quality health care to labourers and their family members.Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said the state was ready to give resources sought by the Union government such as land, water and other infrastructure for any welfare scheme allotted to Karnataka. “The insurance work of the Union government is benefiting the working class to a great extent,” he said. It is a 100-bedded multispeciality hospital that is built on 5 acre land with an estimated cost of Rs 108 crore and is a green field project constructed with environment friendly and recyclable materials.
