Maulana Abid Khan, renowned Muslim cleric of Tableeqi Jamaat passed away at 5 am on Thursday, at Apollo hospital in Jubilee hills. Survived by two sons and four daughters, the scholar was admitted in the hospital two weeks ago due to kidney failure.
The Namaz-e-Janaza took place at tha Eidgah Bilal, Hockey Ground, Masabtank at 2.40 pm.
More than 50,000 Muslims attended the prayer, and those who can not be accommodated in the Hockey Ground, blocked the traffic while paying tearful adieu to the eminent cleric.
The 70- year-old cleric was famous as a powerful and eloquent orator and was respected by all the sects in Islam. Many wrong doers changed their behaviours, and became religious after listening to his speeches. His Bayaan (sermon), before prayers earned respect for him among Muslims.
