Education budget increased to R11k crore

CHITRADURGA: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday urged people of Yadava Community to educate their children so that all shortcomings could be overcome.After inaugurating the state-level Yadav congregation in the city, he said: “To give thrust to education, the BJP government has increased the budget for education from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 11,000 crore.Apart from this, the government has set up several new government medical colleges, converted government polytechnic colleges into engineering colleges.” He urged the Yadavas to unite and get benefits given to the community.The CM also mooted the idea of converting Hattis of Kadugollas into revenue villages on the lines of Lambani Tandas.He also said that a feasibility study would be conducted before taking any decision in this regard.He instructed the DC to sanction the five acres needed for the mutt development mutt.“The state government is giving importance to self employment, hence subsidy is being given to farmers who are starting diaries in rural areas,” he added.Former minister A Krishnappa requested the government to enhance EBA (External Boarding Allowance) from Rs 200 to Rs 500 and include Kadu Golla community under the ST category, and Krishna Jayanti as general holiday.KPCC president G Parameshwar said: “Yadava community is educationally backward, hence the government should include it in the ST category.” DVS conferred ‘Krishna Sri Award’ on international shooter Kavitha Yadav.Leaders exchange blows at meetDuring the state-level Yadava Samavesha, former minister A Krishnappa and former legislator AV Umapathy got into a scuffle and went to the extent of manhandling each other on the dais.Police and people intervened to calm down the leaders.District Minister Anand Asnotikar, MP Janardhana Swamy, GM Siddeshwar, MLA SK Basavarajan, former MLA AV Umapathy, Anjaneya and others were present.Pontiffs of Murugha Mutt Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana, Sri Krishna Yadava Mahasamsthana Yadavananda Swamy, Kabeerananda ashram Shivalingananda Swamy, Kunchatiga Maha Samsthana Shanthaveera Swamy, MLC GH Thippa Reddy and ZP president C Mahalingappa were present.
