Drive against illegal OFCs from Wednesday

BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has geared up to disconnect illegal Optical Fibre Cables (OFC) from Wednesday but according to service providers, the BBMP has not contacted them for any discussion.The BBMP will start its disconnection drive from Abbigere (near Bescom office), where Mayor Sharadamma will be present to identify the illegal OFCs and cut them.“BBMP is saying that they are cutting down the illegal cables. Each service provider has taken permission for a certain distance, how can Palike distinguish which is illegal and which is authorised. If it is not possible for them to distinguish between the two, then how can they disconnect,” questioned an executive working for one of the service providers.
